The Listening Room with Carrie Linsky

Saturday, October 17, 8 PM (Doors 7:30 PM)

The Listening Room with Carrie Linsky is an intimate concert series that celebrates the art of songwriting through music, conversation, and community. Each evening features a thoughtfully curated lineup of songwriters sharing stripped-down original songs and collaborating in ways that can only happen in the moment.

Through thoughtful questions and candid conversation, host Carrie Linsky takes audiences behind the curtain and into the creative lives of the artists—the inspirations, struggles, breakthroughs, and moments of wonder that shape their work. Whether you’re a songwriter, music lover, or simply curious about the human stories behind great songs, The Listening Room offers a unique opportunity to listen deeply and experience music in a whole new way.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Carrie Linsky – Producer, Songwriter, Host – Georgetown, CT

Carrie LinskyLong before Caravan of Thieves, there was just Carrie, a guitar, and a song. That’s where she started, and where she has always felt deeply at home.

Widely known as co-founder and co-lead of the beloved gypsy-swing quartet
Caravan of Thieves, Carrie has watched the band’s reach grow in ways nobody quite expected. Their song “Eat You” went viral on TikTok and now boasts over 8 million streams, and “Raise the Dead” found a new audience following its feature on a popular HBO series last year.

Over the past twenty years, Carrie has been busy recording and releasing seven albums, touring internationally, and holding her own on stages alongside Emmylou Harris, Keb Mo, The Decemberists, Bela Fleck, and high-energy acts like Deep Banana Blackout and The Motet. She is now reemerging as a solo artist while continuing to perform with Caravan of Thieves and alt/folk duo, Fuzz and Carrie. Carrie can command a room in any setting, but when it’s just her and a guitar, something opens up that feels intimate and free, connecting instantly with her audience.

Since planting roots in the greater Georgetown community, Carrie has been building a home for songwriters at the Granite by leading songwriting workshop series, hosting songwriter circles, and curating a new concert series this October featuring local and touring performing songwriters. Heather Maloney – Featured Guest Songwriter – Northampton, MA

Heather MaloneyMassachusetts-based “writer song-singer” Heather Maloney found music in the midst of three years at a meditation center, honing a sound moored in days of silent reflection and reverence for storytellers like Joni, Rilke, Ken Burns, and the anonymous authors of Zen parables. While she eventually traded the quiet, structured life of a yogi for the kinetic life of a touring musician, the core of her songwriting has remained centered around the same curiosity about our inner world and the desire to articulate it through storytelling.

With over 1,000 international shows and 8 studio albums under her belt, she recently released her 9th and most personal record to date, “Exploding Star”. Written in the wake of her father’s death, “Exploding Star” is a collection of 12 songs that Maloney originally had no intentions of recording or releasing until some of her closest friends and family convinced her otherwise.

Heather’s songs have played on NPR stations across the country and her live appearances have aired on syndicated programming like eTown and AudioTree. Her song “Nightstand Drawer” was featured in the season finale of the CBS TV series “Elementary”, and her songs have also been streamed hundreds of thousands of times on editorial Spotify playlists & Starbucks’ in-store nationwide playlists.

Heather has toured throughout the US & Canada as a headliner and also in support of acts including Lake Street Dive, Shakey Graves, Gary Clark Jr., Rodrigo y Gabriela, Colin Hay (Men at Work), Mary Chapin Carpenter, Shawn Colvin, Dar Williams and many more. Learn more at heathermaloney.com
