DESCRIPTION:Summer Night Concert & Picnic at The Granite\nFree Community Event\nSunday\, August 23\, 5 PM\nPack a picnic and your folding chair and join us as The Granite welcomes local emerging artists Calliopi\, Caravan\, and The Eliot Thompson Band. The concert will take place on our outdoor stage\, but will be moved inside the church if the weather does not cooperate. \nPlease RSVP for this free event. Let’s party like it’s the end of summer! \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \nCalliopi \n \nCalliopi is a singer-songwriter from Norwalk\, CT. Her musical journey began at age 4 with guitar lessons from her father. Calli’s love for music and performance grew through the vibrant Norwalk music scene and wide variety of open mics in Fairfield County. Calli is accompanied by Matthew Bean from IN SZN band. Inspired by Guitar Hero\, he taught himself how to play guitar starting at the age of 6. 2 years ago\, Matt was given an opportunity to play live and has been performing ever since. Together\, Matt and Calli curate a mellow\, silky smooth vibe. \nCaravan The Band \n \n“Caravan\, the Band” is a jam and rock band known for its energetic live shows and dynamic jams\, drawing inspiration from the likes of The Grateful Dead and Phish. The members of Caravan met at Weston High School in 2018\, and since then\, Caravan has taken to the Connecticut music scene\, performing at venues including local favorites like Black Rock Porchfest\, Milestone Restaurant\, the Weston Memorial Day Fair\, the SoNo Arts Festival\, and the Westport Library performance series. \nThe Eliot Thompson Band \n \nEliot Thompson is a 19 year old singer-songwriter. Born in Glendale\, CA\, growing up in Weston\, CT\, and currently attending school at Berklee College of Music in Boston\, MA\, Eliot has been immersed in music all his life and around the country. Over the years\, Eliot has pursued classical piano\, musical theater\, film composition\, and jazz drumming on his way to his true calling as a songwriter and performer. Eliot continues to establish himself as an artist unafraid to tackle heavy themes with sincerity and depth\, drawing inspiration from folk\, pop\, jazz\, and rock traditions\, and seeking to connect with audiences through his personal brand of infectious music and emotional storytelling.

Come to listen\, come to jam\, come to learn. Live music from the Granite House Bluegrass band starting at 8 PM\, an easy\, led slow bluegrass jam for beginner and intermediate players starting at 7:30\, and late night jamming open to all. Banjos\, fiddles\, guitars\, dobros\, mandolins\, bass\, and similar acoustic instruments welcome. \nHOSTED BY AUSTIN SCELZO\nAustin Scelzo (Danbury\, CT) first studied various fiddle traditions at Mark O’Connor’s Berklee String Camps and\, over time\, learned all the bluegrass instruments as well as singing and songwriting. During four years as a middle school music teacher\, his bluegrass journey began with performing in CT-based bands and teaching in-person and online. Now full-time in bluegrass\, Austin performs with respected veterans The Rock Hearts and the Americana quartet On the Trail\, teaches jam camps and has created groundbreaking online instruction materials. He has been named Connecticut Arts Hero and nominated as Mentor of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association. \nPart of The Granite Bluegrass Series\nBluegrass Nights at The Granite is a recipient of the 2026 IBMA Foundation Project Grant. DESCRIPTION:Connecticut Bluegrass at The Granite\nJean-Baptiste Cardineau and the Local Heroes\nFriday\, August 28\, 8 PM (Doors 7 PM)\nTickets: $25 \nJean-Baptiste Cardineau and the Local Heroes is a bluegrass group that mines in the fertile grounds of traditional bluegrass\, early country and old time mountain music. Franco-American Jean-Baptiste’s mandolin playing and musical style is influenced by the early innovators Bill Monroe and notably by his friend and former mentor Frank Wakefield. This Boston-based band carries the torch of a bygone tradition with hardcore numbers\, powerful three-part harmonies\, gospels and their own original music. \nIn his final year at Berklee College of Music and with a debut record coming out in the Spring featuring some of the Northeast’s most mythological figures (Stash Wyslouch\, Max Wareham\, Sam Stage\, Chris Sartori\, Jack Holland\, Noah Harrington and more)\, JB has already been given to savor the honor of being proclaimed the winner of PSB Records’ Song’s for Social Change contest and Berklee’s Songs for Social Change Contest as well as first place in mandolin at the 2025 Freshgrass Awards.
