The concert will take place on our outdoor stage\, but will be moved inside the church if the weather does not cooperate. \nPlease RSVP for this free event. Let’s party like it’s the end of summer! \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \nCalliopi \n \nCalliopi is a singer-songwriter from Norwalk\, CT. Her musical journey began at age 4 with guitar lessons from her father. Calli’s love for music and performance grew through the vibrant Norwalk music scene and wide variety of open mics in Fairfield County. Calli is accompanied by Matthew Bean from IN SZN band. Inspired by Guitar Hero\, he taught himself how to play guitar starting at the age of 6. 2 years ago\, Matt was given an opportunity to play live and has been performing ever since. Together\, Matt and Calli curate a mellow\, silky smooth vibe. \nCaravan The Band \n \n“Caravan\, the Band” is a jam and rock band known for its energetic live shows and dynamic jams\, drawing inspiration from the likes of The Grateful Dead and Phish. The members of Caravan met at Weston High School in 2018\, and since then\, Caravan has taken to the Connecticut music scene\, performing at venues including local favorites like Black Rock Porchfest\, Milestone Restaurant\, the Weston Memorial Day Fair\, the SoNo Arts Festival\, and the Westport Library performance series. \nThe Eliot Thompson Band \n \nEliot Thompson is a 19 year old singer-songwriter. Born in Glendale\, CA\, growing up in Weston\, CT\, and currently attending school at Berklee College of Music in Boston\, MA\, Eliot has been immersed in music all his life and around the country. Over the years\, Eliot has pursued classical piano\, musical theater\, film composition\, and jazz drumming on his way to his true calling as a songwriter and performer. Eliot continues to establish himself as an artist unafraid to tackle heavy themes with sincerity and depth\, drawing inspiration from folk\, pop\, jazz\, and rock traditions\, and seeking to connect with audiences through his personal brand of infectious music and emotional storytelling.

Banjos\, fiddles\, guitars\, dobros\, mandolins\, bass\, and similar acoustic instruments welcome. \nHOSTED BY AUSTIN SCELZO\nAustin Scelzo (Danbury\, CT) first studied various fiddle traditions at Mark O’Connor’s Berklee String Camps and\, over time\, learned all the bluegrass instruments as well as singing and songwriting. During four years as a middle school music teacher\, his bluegrass journey began with performing in CT-based bands and teaching in-person and online. Now full-time in bluegrass\, Austin performs with respected veterans The Rock Hearts and the Americana quartet On the Trail\, teaches jam camps and has created groundbreaking online instruction materials. He has been named Connecticut Arts Hero and nominated as Mentor of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association. \nPart of The Granite Bluegrass Series\nBluegrass Nights at The Granite is a recipient of the 2026 IBMA Foundation Project Grant. Franco-American Jean-Baptiste’s mandolin playing and musical style is influenced by the early innovators Bill Monroe and notably by his friend and former mentor Frank Wakefield. This Boston-based band carries the torch of a bygone tradition with hardcore numbers\, powerful three-part harmonies\, gospels and their own original music. \nIn his final year at Berklee College of Music and with a debut record coming out in the Spring featuring some of the Northeast’s most mythological figures (Stash Wyslouch\, Max Wareham\, Sam Stage\, Chris Sartori\, Jack Holland\, Noah Harrington and more)\, JB has already been given to savor the honor of being proclaimed the winner of PSB Records’ Song’s for Social Change contest and Berklee’s Songs for Social Change Contest as well as first place in mandolin at the 2025 Freshgrass Awards. From urban din to the quiet majesty of rivers\, come listen to and celebrate the diversity that makes American music American\, in music past and present. \nMEET THE ARTISTS \nMarc Chan\, Pianist and Composer \nDescribed by the New York Times as a “gifted pianist and composer\,” Marc Chan\, a native of Singapore and resident of Stamford\, CT\, is also a lyricist and librettist. His music can be heard on Mode Records\, Furious Artisans and OgreOgress. Marc’s My Wounded Head 3 has been described as an “entrancing piano opus… It’s never less than mesmerizing” (San Francisco Chronicle). His Dr. Brahms’s Book of Rags was awarded the American Prize in 2021\, and was featured on Classical WSMR and Columbia University’s WKCR-FM. Marc’s music has been performed at Carnegie Hall\, Le Poisson Rouge\, the Stone\, the Tank\, and at the Smithsonian. As composer and lyricist\, Marc has worked with the New York Public Library\, New Dramatists\, Prospect Musical Theatre\, the Astoria Performing Arts Center\, Skylight Music Theatre (Milwaukee)\, the Brooklyn Children’s Theatre\, and Nautilus Theatre (MN). He has collaborated with playwrights Lyra Nan\, Gil Varod\, Barbara Hammond\, Mia Chung\, Adam North\, and Sam Wessels. Marc has a doctorate from the Manhattan School of Music and is a member of the Dramatist’s Guild\, the New Dramatists Composer-Librettist Studio and the BMI Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop. As a member of that orchestra\, Gunnar toured all over Europe and in the US\, playing with world-famous soloists and conductors. The orchestra appears at the annual Nobel Prize Ceremonies at the Stockholm Concert Hall. In 2002\, Gunnar became the Principal Cellist of Norwalk Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with many contemporary composers and premiered works by Alan Cohen\, Constance Walton\, Joe Russo\, Gwyneth Walker\, Marc Chan and Albert Markov. In 2003\, he became conductor of the Fairfield County Symphony Society\, which is an amateur string ensemble\, open to all\, and meets every Tuesday night in Norwalk. They often work with various professional soloists. Gunnar performs with his wife Suzanne as “Duetto Viello\,” playing old as well as new works written especially for them. In the summer of 2018\, they both went on tour in Japan with the Chamber Music Institute of Darien. Gunnar teaches at Project Music and Concordia Conservatory in Stamford\, CT. \nSuzanne Corey-Sahlin\, Violist \nSuzanne is Principal Violist of the Ridgefield Symphony and Norwalk Symphony\, where she has performed as soloist. She also performs with the Greenwich Symphony. Suzanne has studied with Albert Markov\, Jesse Levine\, Robert Glazer\, Steve Larson and two years with the Manhattan String Quartet at Music Mountain. She was part of a touring ensemble\, the Rondo Chamber Orchestra\, where she performed with Mr. Markov and his son Alex Markov in Carnegie Hall and along the East Coast. She was also a member of the Tourmaline String Quartet for 8 years. This quartet performed extensively throughout Fairfield County and New York areas with appearances at Vassar\, Marist\, Bard\, Marymount Fordham University\, where she was a faculty member\, St. Stephen’s Church and Keeler Tavern Museum in Ridgefield. For seven years she was the conductor of the String Ensemble of the Western CT Youth Orchestra. Suzanne is a member of the highly acclaimed Ridgefield Symphony Quartet. \nBenjamin Steinhardt\, Pianist \nBenjamin has appeared in recital and chamber performances at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall\, Merkin Hall\, and Greenwich Music House. She looks forward to reprising the role of Violetta in La Traviata this summer with Opera Acadia and making her role debut as Nedda this fall with Opera Western Reserve in Pagliacci. \nAs a competition winner\, Ms. Cooper has received awards from the George London Foundation\, the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions\, the American Prize\, the Talents of the World Competition\, the Coeur d’Alene Symphony Competition\, and the Montpelier Classical Recital Competition. She was also nominated for a study grant from the Sarah Tucker Foundation. Most recently\, she was awarded a 2024 Emerging Artist Award from the St. Botolph Club in Boston. \nAs a pre-med\, Ms. Cooper completed her Bachelor’s Degree in French at Princeton University. She first began to develop the foundation for her “mastery of French style” (Opera News) while conducting research for her undergraduate thesis on sacred themes in the mélodies\, romances\, and cantiques of Gabriel Fauré. It is now an all-consuming labor of love. It may take my entire lifetime—and then some—but I want to try\, with My America/Beautiful. \nMEET THE ARTIST \nMin Kwon \nKorean-born American pianist Min Kwon excels in a versatile career that encompasses concerti\, solo recitals\, and chamber music appearances\, while in high demand around the world as pedagogue\, arts advocate\, and administrator. She has held professional engagements in over 60 countries on seven continents and all 50 U.S. states. \nProfessor of Piano at Mason Gross School of the Arts\, Rutgers University since 2002\, Dr. Kwon is also the founder and director of the Center for Musical Excellence (CME)\, a non-profit dedicated to mentoring and supporting gifted young musicians. To date\, CME has awarded 12 international performing arts grants\, each up to $10\,000\, and currently features 20 young artists on the 2019 CME Young Artists Roster. CME’s alumni/ae list includes more than 100 young artists from 22 countries. As Artistic Director of Music Made Here\, a concert series inaugurated in 2018\, and CME in Harding Homes\, Kwon brings world class talent to intimate venues. She has also served as Co-Director of Vienna ConcertoFest\, a two-week festival that provides extraordinary opportunities for young artists to appear as soloists with the Viennese International Orchestra in prestigious venues in Austria. \nAs soloist\, Min Kwon has performed extensively in Europe\, North and South America\, and Asia\, with such orchestras as Philadelphia\, North Carolina\, Atlanta\, New Jersey\, and Fort Worth\, Aspen Festival Orchestra\, Orquesta Estaudo Mexico\, Orquesta Sinfónica Venezuela\, Wiener Residenz Orchester\, Bacau Philharmonic\, as well as all major orchestras in Korea on several nationally televised concerts. Since her Avery Fisher (now David Geffen) Hall\, Lincoln Center debut in 1992 with the Juilliard Orchestra\, she has appeared with many of New York’s leading ensembles\, including New York Classical Players\, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra\, and the New York Sinfonietta. Among the distinguished conductors with whom she has collaborated are James Conlon\, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski\, Alan Gilbert\, Vaktang Jordania\, Gerhardt Zimmerman\, and Xian Zhang. \nMin Kwon holds Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Music degree from The Curtis Institute of Music\, completing post-doctoral studies in Salzburg.
